Nia Mothoneos is a qualified and registered yoga teacher and member with Yoga Australia (the peak governing body in Australia). She’s a graduate of the renowned Yoga Institute of Sydney, with a Diploma of Yoga Teacher Training Studies (500 hour teacher training). This was completed under the tutelage of Dr Michael De Manincor, and his talented and experienced training faculty.
She trained in the lineage of the teachings of Tirumalai Krishnamacharya (one of the greatest yogis of the past century) who during the 100 years of his long and useful life, taught prominent and influential teachers including Pattabhi Jois, B.K.S. Iyengar, Indra Devi, A.G. Mohan, and his own son TKV Desikachar. Krishnamacharya has inspired thousands of practitioners worldwide, including Nia.
Nia’s main teaching philosophy is “don’t worry about how you look, focus on how you feel”. Ultimately she believes, “if you can breathe, you can do yoga.” Nia approaches each student and class with care and compassion, ensuring that students learn, evolve and benefit in a safe, nurturing and practical way.
Nia’s classes are known to be like moving meditations and her teaching style is carefully designed to inspire those who practice under her guidance to benefit from a “work in” experience rather than just a physical “work out”.
